How to use Locstock images

1

How Does Locstock Work?

Locstock provides royalty-free location specific stock photography that is used by businesses and individuals in a wide variety of projects.

When you download a file on Locstock, you're purchasing a license that lets you use it for internal production and information purposes.

Because all of the files on our site are royalty-free, you only have to pay once to use our content for as long as you like, in as many different projects as you want.

How Can I Use Locstock Photos?

Under our Terms and Conditions, you can use files on our site for production and planning purposes or purely for inspiration – when you buy an image or file of images, you can use it for as long as you like in as many different projects as needed, within the terms and conditions.

The images portray specific places and occasionally through coincidence, people, things and events. The places, people and things in these images are not released and for that reason, they cannot be used to sell anything or be published in any way. The imagery is generally intended for reference, planning or visual aids.

If you would like to use an image for any other uses than the ones listed above, you will need to contact us on info@locstock.co.za

File Size/DPI

All our images are 1800 pixels X 1195 pixels and are at a resolution of 300dpi.

If you find that the image is not this resolution, you can easily fix this problem by changing the resolution.

If you're using Adobe Photoshop, go to 'Image' and select 'Image Size'. If you see the resolution listed at anything other than 300dpi, simply uncheck the 'Resample Image' option and change the dpi of the file to 300. The height and width of the file will change in the document size window to reflect the change. Click 'OK' and you're done.

If you don’t have access to Adobe Photoshop, feel free to mail us with the image number and we will send you the image with the right aspects and resolution.

Downloading Images and Image Files

3

In order to buy and download an image from the site, you will need to login or register if you have not already done so. You can then search for images and when you find an image you would like to purchase, click the ‘Buy’ icon under the bottom right of the image.

If you do not already have credit loaded, this icon will take you to a screen whereby you will be given the option to buy the image using one of the two methods of payment available, either pay-as-you-go or payment with pre-bought credit. Once you have decided which method you want to use for payment, the image will automatically start downloading in the background while you can continue to browse the site.

If you do have credit loaded, the “Buy” icon will launch a pop-up where you can confirm your purchase, and the image will immediately start to download.

Ways to pay

4

Pay-as-you-go

Simply choose the credit card option and fill in your details. As soon as payment is processed, the image or images will start to download immediately.

Buy a credit bundle

Credit bundles are the most cost effective and simple way of purchasing images on Locstock. You can choose the bundle that suits your needs and purchase it using your credit card. The bundle will then automatically be loaded to your account. The cost of your purchases will be automatically deducted from your credit balance. If you have a credit balance available and you confirm a purchase, your images will automatically download in the background while you can continue to browse the site and make further purchases as needed.

If you do not have sufficient funds in your credit balance for a specific purchase, you will be routed to the “Payment Options” page where you can buy further credit and proceed as above.

Finding & Organising Files

Searching for Files

The easiest way to search for files on Locstock is by typing keywords into the search bar on the home page or Search page. This will take you to the search results page, where you can view thumbnails and continue on to a location's detailed information page for closer evaluation. If you are looking for something more specific you can go to the Advanced Search option.

To get the most out of our search, please review our Search Tips

Can't Find a File?

If your search has yielded zero results, it most likely means you're being too specific (or you're searching for something really unusual). Try removing keywords from your search, or changing some of your refinements to generate more matches.

Using Galleries

Galleries are a way of organizing your favorite images and locations. You can create galleries based on specific topics or for specific projects that you're working on.

To create a gallery, sign in to your account and perform a search as you would normally do (see Search Tips). When you find an image you like but do not want to purchase yet, click the “Add to Gallery” Locstock Add to gallery icon on the bottom left of the image. This will open a window that either allows you to add the image to a previously created gallery or to create a new gallery. Multiple galleries can be created and named at your discretion (e.g. Job Name, Location Name, Number Sequence etc.). Images and locations can then be added and deleted from these galleries, helping you to keep track of specific locations or images that interest you. Images and locations can then be purchased directly from these galleries. Your galleries are specific to your login and no one else can view them. You can view your galleries from your ‘logged in’ home page or from under the “My Galleries’ tab at the top right of the page.

If you would like to manage your galleries you can click on the 'My Account' link at the top right of the screen then click on the ‘Galleries’ tab. This will allow you to edit, purchase or delete galleries.
